You may wonder what this website and its initiatives are seeking to achieve. Our vision is to provide a platform to educate you about your data and tools to better manage them based on your wishes.

As a start in educating, let’s take a look at all the categories of data about you and high-level considerations about them:

Quantitative vs. Qualitative:

Quantitative data deals with numbers and things you can measure objectively: dimensions such as height, width, and length. Temperature and humidity. Prices. Area and volume.

Examples of your Quantitative Data include data about your health, weight changes, number of times you exercised this year, and even how much oxygen is in your blood.

Qualitative data deals with characteristics and descriptors that can’t be easily measured but can be observed subjectively — such as smells, tastes, textures, attractiveness, and color.

Broadly speaking, when you measure something and give it a number value, you create quantitative data. When you classify or judge something, you make qualitative data. So far, so good. But this is just the highest level of data: there are also different types of quantitative and qualitative data.

Some examples of your qualitative data include your financial health (i.e., credit score), your resume score given by an algorithm in a job board, and even how likely you are to live longer or shorter than your best friend.

We hope that this website gives you a better understanding of these different data types and how to make sure they are safe, secure, and stored where and how you want them.
